Book You're Currently Reading!

Post by D41V30N on Fri Oct 31, 2008 9:17 pm

In this thread, put the book you're reading and a brief summary of what it's about. Put what you like and dislike about it as well.

As for me, I'm not a bookworm! Razz

I just finished Priestess of the White by Trudy Caravan it was a decent read indeed. I'm now working on acquiring A clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

Well, I read manga, I read the subtitles in subbed anime Ryojin and I read on the Creator's Corner and a few journals. But I have never ever finished a book, not even books like Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer in my kindergarten Ryojin
My writing skills come just from the anime... Very Happy

Shocked Dave... pick up a book from time to time... It won't kill you. A Clock work Orange is almost impossible to find here in SA. I didn't know that it was such a rare book. In the mean time I re-reading the Malorian by David Eddings and his spouse (I think). I enjoyed the book a couple years back and it should be good reading now.

Dav thats all! affraid

Even with the net, tv, movies, mp3 whatever man would create will never replace the feeeling of satisfaction that you get when you read a good book!

As a start you should read wee-wee from Enid Blyton, just joking, geek you're too perverted for that one. I don't know reading has been really natural for me even now after finishing school (u know with the grammar and vocabulary stuff had to read a book everyweek at school even if the story sucked Mad ) I still enjoy a good book from time to time Laughing

The Book I'm Currently Reading: IGCSE Biology... ... ... WHAT! Don't look at me like that? It's a book, isn't it? I'm only studying it because I have my exams Ryojin

Enid Blyton? OMG! You gotta be kidding me. Even when I was a kid, I did not feel like reading those - no sir! Ryojin

I knew you were too perverted for that! God I had to read one of his book every week, it almost killed me!

"IGCSE Biology" the chemistry as well is good u know! Wink

I've studied biology and chemistry up to the A-level, and is right now following a course to become a healthcare assistant had it not been for my wish to work in the medical field, would have drop long ago.

you should try Christopher pike it helps to break up from the routine of that logic in science. Sydney Sheldon and Danielle Steele are also really good.

But I guesswith all those movies made from novels one don't want to do the effort anymore.

Christopher Pike? You mean Spookesville ... nah ... I'm not really compatible with books. Even though Sydney Shelton's books are damn perverted, I can't just get the feeling when I make a contrast with the real deal Ryojin ...

But look on the bright side, people actually do make things for people like me. That's right! Visual novels... manga... I read them and I have fun reading them Very Happy

Sometimes Dave you need things that challenge your imagination. Yes, manga and visual novels do that, but haven't you ever wanted to be whisked off to a world without chakara or spiritual energy. Just try a drama or an erotic novel for males (not sure if they're perverted). You may actually enjoy it.

"We have to earn this world" by.. ehm... it's a book with a short stories from dif. authors...
But I think that those stories were chosen by Vlado Ríša.....

So... all the stories are talking about the same, or better said, they have the same roots... but each author is telling the story with his own words... or better said making his own story...
That theme is a organization called "The Agency", that studies other spaces and sends agents to the planets...
One of those agents is JFK, that is one of the main heroes of half of stories....
Other half follow adventures of other agents.... one of them is for example a vampire, other is a scout.....

I really like the last one, named.. "We cannot retreat anymore, Moscow lies behind us" by Miroslav Žamboch....
It's a story about a second WW in dif. world.... and there it goes differently too... Nazis are winning and are just to reach Moscow...
There's where JFK tries to help Soviet Union to win the battle of Moscow.... and so the story begins... Smile

I really like the stories of this type... I mean fantasy and sci-fi.....

I've started reading "The Ancient Future" trilogy by Traci Harding. It's quite enjoyable. If you like myth mixed with some sci-fi then you'll love the series. Though a lot of times I laugh at how ridiculous the situations are.

I'm reading a book called Gravity. (I can't remember the author's name at the moment.) It's about a woman who goes into space, and there's something that mutates and breaks free into the space station, killing her crewmates. :/

I like the book though. Very Happy

Re: Book You're Currently Reading!

I'm currently reading "Life, The Universe, and Everything" by Douglas Adams. To quote the back:

The unhappy inhabitants of planet Krikkit are sick of looking at the night sky above their heads -- so they plan to destroy it. The universe, that is. Now only five individuals stand between the white killer robots of Krikkit and their goals of total annihilation.

They are Arthur Dent, a mild-mannered space and time traveler, who tries to learn how to fly by throwing himself at the ground and missing; Ford Prefect, his best friend, who decides to go insane to see if he likes it; Slartibartfast, the indomitable vice president for the Campaign for Real Time, who travels in a ship powered by irrational behavior; Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed, three-armed ex-head honcho of the Universe; and Trillian, the sexy space cadet who is torn between a persistent Thunder God and a very depressed Beeblebrox.

The book is better than the back cover will lead one to believe, as are the rest of the books in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series...
